Well February is here, and rumor has it that all 13 Ski Resorts and XC in the Mt. Washington Valley trails are open and fabulous!

Jack Frost has been a little slow this winter, especially compared to last year!!! But with the help of the ski resorts making that powder,

we have had a whole bunch of happy ski guests this 2020 to date!

Here’s some things that will be happening here in this beautiful place during the next couple of weeks:

February 6th , 8th
Patterns in the Snow: A Tracking Exploration *Tin Mountain Learning Center, Albany
Classroom session: Thursday, February 6, 7pm
Field session: Saturday, February 8, 9-11am
Have you ever wondered what animals move through your yard when you’re not looking? Have you ever looked at the tracks in your yard and wondered who made them and what they were doing? Snow provides us a yearly opportunity to learn more about our animal neighbors. The track patterns left behind will be our window into figuring out: Who left those tracks? What were they doing? Were they in a hurry? Join local certified tracker Joe LaRue for a Thursday class and Saturday field session to explore these snowy riddles.     603-447-6991

Fifth Annual Ice Bar at the Wentworth– an Elegant Country Inn
This has become an annual tradition at The Wentworth and this will be our Fifth Annual Ice Bar!
The date of the 2020 ice bar is scheduled for February 7th and 8th (Friday and Saturday) weather permitting. Dennis Hickey and Dave Soha visit The Wentworth to create for us a unique ice  bar by our ice skating rink. Dennis and Dave have been carving together since 1997 and are frequent participants in our annual ice carving competition held in January every year. Their company Ice Breakers is New Hampshire’s premier ice sculpting company. Cuddle up by our fireplaces, get your ice skates on and enjoy an evening of fun and festivities. Your entry fee of $25.00 will entitle you to entry to the ice bar and a selection of hors d’oeuvres which will be passed throughout the evening. Specialty cocktails will be served, warm  blankets will be provided and an evening of fun is guaranteed.
Tickets for the ice bar may be purchased in advance by calling 800-637-0013 and will be held for you at the door.
Must be 21 or older to attend.    603-383-9700  Click for more info: www.thewentworth.com

February 18th , 19th
Penguins & Polar Bears Gorham, NH 03581 ~ ski camp will focus on games and fun, while teaching cross country ski basics for kids ages six to eleven years old.

Both Penguins (ages 6 to 8) and Polar Bears (ages 9 to 11) start off the camp with games that teach and test stopping abilities. Red Light, Green Light is a favorite that can be adapted to experienced skiers with the challenge of skiing backwards. Moose in the Trail gives further stopping practice while descending hills. Games of Predator and Prey played on one ski helps to equalize levels of skiing ability while providing the fun of a chase on skis. Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, and Flag Tag are other game possibilities.

The trails at Great Glen that wind through the meadows and forest will be explored. Ascending to the Great Angel Cabin, a log warming hut, is a significant ski goal for campers and is rewarded by a fast and turn-filled trip down the Dragon Corridor trail. Campers will also search for the locations of Trail Tracker critters. Of course, the camp wouldn’t be complete without a few runs on the classic tubing hill. 603-466-3988 Click for more info: www.greatglentrails.com/ppb

The Odd Couple at M&D at the Historic Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse
Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak news writer, is thrown out by his wife, and moves in with his friend Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter. Despite Oscar’s problems – careless spending, excessive gambling, a poorly kept house filled with spoiled food – he seems to enjoy life. Felix, however, seems utterly incapable of enjoying anything and only finds purpose in pointing out his own and other people’s mistakes and foibles. Even when he tries to do so in a gentle and constructive way, his corrections and suggestions prove extremely annoying to those around him. Oscar, his closest friend, feels compelled to throw him out after only a brief time together, though he quickly realizes that Felix has had a positive effect on him. Performances are at 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday and Sundays at 3:30pm.  Tickets are $25.     603-733-5275
